Avery Staley

Avery was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended public schools, graduating from West Charlotte High School. While in high school, Staley played football, and was the basketball, play by play announcer. He was a member of the Student Executive Council and Senior Class Council and in 1988 he was voted best personality of the senior class.

In the fall of 1988, he entered North Carolina Central University, where he was elected Freshmen Class President and received the Outstanding Student Leader award. While at NCCU, he majored in Criminal Justice and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In the spring of 1991, Staley became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, a divine nine greek letter organization.

Staley went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and a Juris Doctor, from the Vermont School of Law, in South Royalton, Vermont. Staley has served as a Special Counsel and Adviser to former Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton; Vice President at Lenoir Rhyne University and currently serves as Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff at his alma mater, North Carolina Central University.

Staley is married to the former Erika Jones, whom he met in college. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Sage a graduate of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Lark, a current high school senior.

In addition to the 3T Foundation, Staley serves on the NC 10 Committee; he was appointed by former Governor Roy Cooper to the North Carolina Internship Council and is a member of the Board of Directors for Lutheran Services of the Carolinas.
